Milan, Italy (Sports Network) - AC Milan extended the contract of Dutch international midfielder Clarence Seedorf until 2009. The influential central midfielder was signed through this season, but was rewarded with an additional four years.

Seedorf helped AC Milan to the Serie A title last season and was also part of the Rossoneri's 2002/2003 Champions League triumph.
AC Milan will begin its Serie A title defense September 11 against newcomer AS Livorno.
"(AC Milan) is armed with players who at their base are nearly always used to success. I am confident that this is an excellent team built by top players," Seedorf said of his team's prospects.
Seedorf and his teammates are matched up against Barcelona, Celtic and Shakhtar in Champions League action set to begin on September 14.
